Gita Art Publication Welfare Trust® formally known as Gita Art Social Club is a non profit, non political organization registered in 2003. The organization derived its heritage from Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's transcendental movement of propagating the love of Lord Krishna.
It was founded in April 1994 by a devotee and present Chairman of the trust named as Chander Kant G.Hatwal with the divine inspiration of our Param Guru A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada and venerated Sant Madhusudhan Das in Karachi, Pakistan. The organization started its initial journey on the path directed by Swami Prabhupada that is to spread the spiritual wisdom of the Bhagvat Gita in the Hindu population of Pakistan, guiding them to lead spiritually and morally enrich lives. Moving on, it extended its scope of activities to lift the Hindu society not only morally but also socially by promoting performing arts of aspiring young talent, highlighting the importance of basic education and health so as to make the society competitive and peaceful. Some of the initial efforts done for the social advancement include donating spiritual libraries, sewing machines, mending of Hindu community's graveyards etc.
Despite of such variegated goals and efforts Gita Art Publication Welfare Trust did not divert from its founding principle of spreading the words of Lord Krishna and other eminent saints. Its founding members continued delivering spiritual lectures and discourses with strong dedication to various Hindu localities of Pakistan, but it did not produce everlasting effect on hearts of the people. The organization desired to make long lasting impact on spiritual lives of Hindus just like famous Krishna consciousness revolution shaped by A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada globally. Following his footsteps and living up the spirit and letters of its main emblem, which initiates with the word of Gita, the organization began work on publishing the first ever complete Bhagvat Gita in Urdu language consisting of 700 original Sanskrit texts, Urdu transliterations, translations and mahatma. Publishing and presenting the complete Bhagvat Gita without any adulteration or personal motivation in its original and yet reader friendly form was an intricate task for this organization, but as it is said where there is a will there is a way. With the grace of Lord Shri Krishna, the original narrator of Bhagvat Gita and our guru A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada , we successfully published this jewel of Hindu scripture in 2000. This would not have been possible without the selfless efforts and dedication of Pandit Bansilal G. Hatwal (Bhimdas Adhikari). He served as the central figure of trust's publishing wing and singlehandedly did all the translations in Urdu .This presentation of Gita Art Publication Welfare Trust was the first of its kind in Urdu Language particularly in Pakistan, thus it was very well received and appreciated by people belonging to all ages of life across the country. This was the beginning of the organization's real journey with extreme focus on spiritual publications. Our next master piece was the spiritual magazine in Urdu language named as Prem Geet published on quarterly bases and distributed all over Pakistan. All of these works gave visibility to Gita Art Publication Welfare Trust® and it emerged as one of the foremost publishers of Hindu spiritual scriptures in the form of easy to read books, magazines, Cds etc. However that's not the end of the story. The growing demand of the first edition from readers within and outside Pakistan propelled the organization to come up with the new edition. This time it was firmly determined to bring a more refined and elegant form of the Bhagvat Gita on such parameters of presentation which has never been done before globally. Again it took six years of extreme dedication and selfless service from each member of the trust to present the song of Krishna (Bhagvat Gita) with extreme beauty in editing, designing, printing and simplicity in expression. The organization was extolled and honored by eminent saints, spiritual masters including Kirtananda Swami Srila Bhaktipada, Pujya Ramesh bhai Oza (Bhaishri), Morari Bapui ,Gyaneshwar Maharaj, Sant Madhusudhan Das, and other leading figures of Pakistani Hindu society for achieving this unwonted milestone.
Today Gita Art Publication Welfare Trust® is one of the leading publishers of Hindu Holy Scriptures, having membership and readership all over Pakistan. It comprises of multi faceted teams and individuals who regularly serves the trust with their precious time and valuable resources selflessly without any wish for material gains. Collectively, we believe in rekindling the flame of spiritual knowledge (Gyana) and devotion (bhakti bhav) amongst the Hindus by sharing the wisdom enshrined in the Holy Scriptures. For the future, we aspire to establish a Vedic Institute in Pakistan for the youth of the society which would strike a balance between spiritual and mundane knowledge, helping them living an ideal life for themselves, their family and more importantly contributing positively towards the development of Pakistan. We pray that with the blessings of our spiritual masters and mercy of Lord Shri Krishna we will again emerge triumphant in our noble efforts like previously.
